Walking Gardens

Sure, we love our snakes, crocodilians, birds, bugs, amphibians, giant tortoises, and prairie dogs; but Reptile Gardens isn't all about just the reptiles and other animals on our grounds.  The staff at Reptile Gardens has worked for many years to become a botanical garden and our efforts won’t disappoint.  The botanical gardens are full of flowers and foliage – from many regions around the world – just waiting to be explored.

The manicured green lawns at our family attraction provide a lush backdrop for the vibrant colors and patterns in countless stunning flowerbeds.  But those are all just the beginning.  We’ve got various roses, rock gardens, flowering vines, fruit trees, and so much more.  The designs, layout, and varieties of plants change every year, so when you’re walking through our botanical garden, you’re looking at a completely different garden than existed last season or will exist next season.  Strolling around our botanical garden is a great way to take some beauty and leisure time before the next snake, gator, or bird show.

Gardeners and horticulturalists alike are sure to enjoy the acres of over 40,000 flowers and perennials intermixed with mature, finely-pruned trees and shrubs in our botanical garden.  Reptile Gardens is a family attraction unlike anything you’ve ever experienced and is completely unique to South Dakota.  Visiting our botanical gardens is a great way for kids and adults alike to enjoy the outdoors and take in some fresh air at Reptile Gardens.  Join us and explore our botanical gardens between the snake, gator, and bird show.  Reptile Gardens is located just 6 miles south of Rapid City, SD at 8955 S. Highway 16.  Just look for the giant dome at the bottom of the hill on Highway 16.
